Belande Makes A Speech

On a board of J5949 Marc bets pot on the river, 65k. Belande launches into a big speech about how Marc must be bluffing and then finally folds.

A Close Second?

We just got word that there is a player out there with 330k ... Marc's 280+ is probably good for second place right now. We're 8 minutes from break and then we'll play the last level of the day.

Tournament Chip Leader

Marc mowed them down in this last level and built his stack to 126.6K. He reraised the last 3 hands in a row preflop and was just a huge force at his table. His stack, more than likely, makes him chip leader of not only Day 1b ... But also of the entire tournament so far.

We'll be back on Monday at noon for Day 2.

Go Myst Go!

Final Break

Marc's run over his table and accumulated even more chips. With one more hour of play to go, he has 97k.

New Table... No Pros

Marc is at a new table, there doesn't seem to be anyone else of note at this new table.

With his 90k Marc is most likely in the top 10 for today.

Double Up Hand

Here's what happened.

There was a raise to 1400 and Marc called on the Button with 64 of clubs. The BB re-raised to 2400 and the original raiser and Marc both called. The flop came A84 with two clubs and the original raiser bet 12000, Marc shoved for around 40k and his opponent called, tablin AK. The turn brought a Kc, giving Marc the flush!

On Break

Still at 20k. Look for a slow-paced grind in the next level when the blinds will be 150 & 300 with a 50 ante.

It Seems "What Goes Up...

... Must come down"

Marc is at 28k now. Thanks to some new rules on reporting. Details are sketchy. We'll do our best to update as we know more. Dinner is in 20 minutes ... So expect a full report at the dinner break.

The Roller Coaster Begins

Never one to rest on his big stack, Marc continued to gamble and played a combination gutshot and flush draw very hard, taking him down to 22k. Luckily our friend from before raised it up when Marc was holding AK. Marc re-raised and our friend called leaving himself only about 4500 behind. The flop came AAx and Marc set our friend all in. Our friend called and was eliminated holding QQ v. Marc's trips.

Marc is back at 35k

42k and Climbing

The same player who doubled Marc up earlier managed to make a come back and get engaged in the following hand with Marc.

Marc raises to 300 from the button and our friend calls. The flop comes 885 and it's checked to Marc who bets 500 and gets called. The turn is a 3 and Marc bets another 500 and gets called. The river is a deuce and again it goes, check-500-call. Marc shows As5s and his opponent mucks.

Level 1 is Done

Players are on break for 15 minutes as the first level has completed. Marc is at 37k and feeling good.

Right Decision Wrong Result ... That's Poker

We commend Bernt on his excellent play in this event. He consistently made great reads and correct decisions all the way to his very last hand, where he got his money in as a favourite despite being put to a difficult test. This is definitely not the last we'l see of the man known as "Elaineb". Good work Team ... we'll get 'em next year!

Great Call!

The cut off raised to 6000 and Bernt repopped it to 18000 which the cut off called. The flop brought a 356 with 2 clubs and the cut off check raised Bernt's 35000 bet, to put Bernt all in. Bernt thought forver and finally called, showing JJ. The cut off turned over A8 of clubs for a flush draw and one over making him a slight dog to Bernt's over pair. The turn was a Td but unfortunately the river brought a club and Bernt was eliminated.

Chip Leader Is Bleeding

The Chip Leader keeps getting caught bluffing the river. Hopefully Bernt will be able to take from him once more before the day is done (in about 3 hrs)

Grinding It Up

Bernt is grinding his way up, getting active with his chips and taking some pots with controlled aggression. Because the blinds and antes are pretty high, he suddenly has 100k.

Schooling the chip leader

Chip Leader limps for 2000 Bernt calls in the SB and McEvoy checks his option. The flop is Jh5c8c and it's checked around. The turn brings a 6c and Bernt leads for 6000, McEvoy folds and the chip leader min-raises. Bernt calls and then checks the offsuit 5 on the river. His opponent bet 20,000 and Bernt called quickly, exposing 79 for the straight. His opponent showed AxTc for a busted draw. Bernt is at 73k

Diner's Over and the Blinds do Battle

Firt hand after dinner. It folds to Bernt in the SB and he makes it 6000 to go, the generally tight Tom McEvoy almost insta-shoves and Bernt let's his hand go, showing an Ace.

Dinner Break

Bernt has 62,000

Staying Active

Despite the loss of a lot of chips, Elaineb is staying active and trying to see a lot of cheap flops in hopes of hitting a monster and doubling through!

Second Break

As we enter the second break, Elaineb has 51,000 in chips.

Easy Steal

Bernt calls an under the gun raiser from the SB and sees a flop of 833 (2 diamonds). Bernt checked and his opponent very frustratingly checked behind. The turn brought an off suit 5 and Bernt lead for 10k ... His opponent muttured "of course!" and angrily mucked his cards.

Free Money

In a 3-way limped pot the flop came AJ5 and all players checked. The turn paired the Jack and put another club on board. Bernt lead for 3200 and got one caller. They checked through the K on the river and Bernt Sheepishly exposed his pocket threes, to which his opponent exclaimed, "you're good" and showed 24 of clubs for a busted draw.

The Champ Next Door

Bernt is at a new table and sitting to the right of former Champ Tom McEvoy. Bernt has abot 50k with blinds of 600/1200/200.

Not Slick Enough

After raising preflop and getting a call on the button. Bernt saw a flop od 733. Both players checked to see a 4 on the turn where Bernt check/called a bet from the button playeer and on the river (which came an 8) Bernt checked only to have his opponent make a 15000 chip bet. After a lot of thinking Bernt decided his opponent was on a bluff and called him down woth AK. Unfortunately the button was holding A3 for flopped trips.

Indie Is Here!

Indie walked in just a few moments ago after being in line for ages to support his team-mate. Go Team Eurolinx!!!

Power Poker

Bernt raises from late position and faces a reraise from the BB. Bernt then 3-bets it making it 23,500 to go. His opponent goes into the tank and finally folds. At which point Bernt exposes a 5 of hearts.

Second in Chips

With only a few minutes to go before break. Elaineb's 100k stack puts him at 2nd in chips on his table. The table chip leader has close to 200k and so far they seem to be staying out of each other's way.

Queens Finally Hol

Bernt raises to 4500 out of his BB and his opponents all fold. He shows QQ face up.

Lots Of Heart

Elaineb raises to 3200 with AhQh and gets one caller. The flop comes T77 with two hearts and Elaineb fires 6000 after his opponent checks, only to get check/raised to 18000. Elaineb calls and both the K on the turn and the offsuit Ace illicit a check from both players. At showdown, Elaineb's pair of aces is good against his opponent's weaker, busted fkush draw. Elaineb now has over 100k!

New Table, No Names

Bernt's table broke, there doesn't seem to be any one of note at his new table. So far, Bernts has very successfully avoided the big name pros in this event.

Good Start

Facing a raise to 3200 Elaineb makes it 10,000 to go, only to have his opponent push for 11000 more. Holding AJ of hearts and getting better than 2.5 to 1 on his money (after blinds and antes), Elaineb was forced to call. His opponent flipped up AK, but when the flop brought three hearts, Elaineb scooped the pot. Meanwhile, Hendon Mobster Barny Boatman has moved in to take the eliminted player's spot to directly to Bernt's right.

Elaineb sits with a comfortable 80,000 stack now.

2007 WSOP ME - Day 2a About To Start

We're moments away from the start of Day 2 and Bernt "Elaineb" Grytdahl is here and ready for action. Despite feeling under the weather for the past few days, his attitude this morning is upbeat and confident. He is feeling better today and we believe he is ready for the long battle ahead. Stay tuned right here for all the live up-to-the-minute action of Team Eurolinx at the world's most famous poker tournament the World Series of Poker Main Event!

Day 1 Is Done

We sent four of our very best Proffesional Team Eurolinx Players into a mine field of amateurs and only one was able to dodge the donkeys and survive the day. Elaineb has made it through to Day 2. His eyes focused on the prize, he knows the hopes of Team Eurolinx now rest squarely on his shoulders. He ended the day with 55,700 in chips which is just about the average chip count but on Day 2, his performance will need to be well above average to survive. Will he make it to Day 3? We believe so and you can read all about it right here on July 10th as Bernt "Elaineb" Grytdahl continues his quest for the biggest prize poker has to offer. Until then, good luck in your own games and congratulations to today's fallen members of Team Eurolinx; Kjetil "Sparky" Flatnes, Marc "Myst" Karam, and Anders "Indie" Indrebo.

Last Minute Tension

With only two and a half minutes remaining on the clock, Elaineb raises to 2,900 from middle position. The button re-raises to 10,000 and Bernt goes into the tank for an eternity. The tournament clock ticks down to a stop and Bernt is still thinking, while the crowd applauds themselves for making it to day two. Finally, Bernt releases his hand and the day is done.

Back To 60k

A player in early position raises to 2500. Bernt calls and so does the button.

Flop: A 7 5 rainbow

EP bets 6000 and Bernt raises to 14,000, winning the pot when both his opponents fold.

Bernt is now back up to 60K

Elaineb Takes A Small One

Bernt is the second player to call a raise to 3000 and then leads at the K92 flop for 5000. Which is good for the win.

Details On Sparky's Exit

We finally learned how Sparky was eliminated.

UTG raised to 800 and Sparky re-popped it to 2600 and another player cold called. Utg folded and the flop came 5d6dJd. Sparky bet 4500 and his opponent shoved. Sparky was forced to call with his pocket aces (including the Ad) only to find his opponent holding a set of Jacks. He failed to improve and busted from the tournament.

All Quiet So Far

20 minutes into the final level of the day ... Things are slow and quiet for the last remaining member of Team Eurolinx. He still sits with about 49k ... A reasonable stack for the 400-800-100 structure.

The Gory Details

In the QQ hand ... Bernt raised and got two callers .. The flop came 998 (with two diamonds) and Bernt fired again to one caller. The turn brought an off suit 8 and Bernt fired 5000 only to have his opponent push for 7000 more. Bernt eventually called and found his opponent holding A9.

Queens Again!

Elaineb lost a big pot with QQ but rebuilt with some key bluffs to put him at 49K. Getting details on the QQ hand soon.

Frozen By "Captain All-In"

We've nicknamed the player 2 seats to Bernt's right, "Captain All-In" because he has taken to shoving all his chips in the middle at every opportunity. This type of play has kind of frozen Bernt. We've seen some pretty bad play from some of the players at Bernt's table so there may be some good opportunities for Bernt to take one more big point before the day is done in a few hours.

Chip Count

Elaineb is now at 61K!

The Elaine Train!

Elaineb raises KJ from the cut off and the button calls. The flop comes Ks6s9c. Elaineb checks and the button bets 2200. Elaineb calls. The turn is an off suit Q. Elaineb checks again and his opponent fires 5000.Elaineb calls. The river is a brick and Elaineb check calls another 5000 to show down his KJ and win ... Meanwhile 3 players have busted in quick succession at his table.

Feeling Good At The Break

Elaineb has worked his stack up to 43K now, taking small pots wherever he can. He's been at the same table since the start of the day and he feels like he has a pretty good read on several of the players and has been able to control the action in the last level. He has had no big name pros at his table at all and with his healthier stack he is becoming a force to be reckoned with.

We're on a 20 minute break now.

The Rise of Elaineb

The button Raised to 1200 and the SB called as well as Elaineb in the BB with AcJc.

The flop came AKT with one club. All players checked.

The turn brough a 9 of clubs and Elaineb check/called a bet of 2700.

The river was a 6c, giving Elaineb the nut flush, an he bet out 7000 which his opponent called with AT.

Last Man Standing

Indie has been eliminated in a classic cold deck situation where he ran his KK into AA.

Only Elineb remains now, but he has built his stack to 40k! Details to come...

Elaineb takes a nice one

Elaineb raises it up with AA and goes head's up to a rainbow raggy flop 853. His opponent leads for 3200 and Elaineb smooth calls. The turn brings an off suit 10 and his oponent pushes for 7000. Elaineb calls and wins the pot when his opponent shows 78.

Elaineb now has about 27k again.

And Then There Were Two...

After entering a few pots and missing Marc was left with about 6000 in chips and limped under the gun to see the flop in a 5 way pot. The cards came 3c5c6x. The blinds checked to Marc who promptly moved all-in. It folded to the button who called and all others folded. Marc showed Jc8c for a flush draw and the caller showed 2s4s for a flopped straight. The turn and river were both red cards and Marc "Myst" Karam is out of the main event.

This event was a real roller coaster ride for Marc and he struggled back from the brink only to get knocked down again and again. As usual, he played well and you can be sure that he'll be back here next year. There's still a bracelet out there with his name on it.

Elaineb and Indie are hanging in there and we will continue to follow their progress as the play continues...

Dinner's Over

We're just getting back from dinner .. here are the chip counts:

Elaineb .... 21K
Indie ......... 27K
Myst ...........10.6K
Sparky .......Out?

We Lost Sparky

The only big news from dinner is that Sparky seems to have dissapeared. In fact no one has seen him since his table broke and current speculation is that he busted out in some very unfortunate manner. Hopefully, he'll turn up with a whack of chips somewhere, but it's unlikely.

Dinner Break

Players on dinner break ... we'll gather up chip counts and stories and post while we eat.

Myst Survives an All-in

Myst pushed over top a raise and his opponent folded showing an Ace and Myst showed two red nines.

Myst Below 10k

Myst lost a sizable pot to Serena Williams at his new table ... He is under 10k ... Details to come during the dinner break.

Indie Down

Indie had to lay down JJ in a sizeable pot and took a few other small hits to leave him down to 23k in chips.

Elaineb Is Put To A Tough Decision

Elaineb raises with AQ and gets one caller to a rag flop with two diamonds, he and his opponent both check. The turn brings the Ad and Elaineb check/calls a bet. The river is a King and Elaineb fires 2000 at which point his opponent raises 5000 more. Elaineb tanks it for an eternity and finally makes a great call as his opponent simply mucks.

Myst Down A Bit

Myst seems to be running hot and cold in this tournament so far and is down to 17k.

Elaineb Running Cold

Elaineb is down to about 10k after missing some key draws.

Strong Resistance

After facing multiple re-raises Elaineb's stack has suffered and he now sits with about 15k... Meanwhile facing a huge 10k bet from Cardplayer Owner Barry Shullman on a board of KJ4A (two diamonds). Marc thinks for an eternity and then folds. Marc has 24k now.

Sparky Grinds His Way Back Up

After taking some small pots, Sparky is up to 22k.

Myst Wins Another One

Myst raised KQ in position and saw a flop of KKQ head's up. His opponent check/min raised him. Marc called leaving himself only a few thousand. The turn brought another king and both players checked. The river came a brick and Marc moved in went checked to. His opponent auto-mucked. Marc has 26k.

Sparky At 17k

Sparky called a big bet on the flop with second pair, convinced his opponent was bluffing, however a big bet on the turn forced him to fold .. He now has 17k.

More Lady Trouble

Elaineb picks up QQ and raises to 1200, a player pushes for about 4k and he calls to find his opponent holding AA.

Elaineb is down to about 23k.

Meanwhile... Indie has grinded his way back up to 32k.

Myst On The Move

Marc doubled up by getting it all in with 89c on a board of 8925 with two clubs. His opponent called with AK and was drawing dead. In the very next hand Marc moved all-in over top a raise and a re-raise to take down the pot.

Marc now sits with a little over 16k

More Details On Myst's Last Big Hand

The player who had doubled Myst up when Myst held sevens, raised to 700 preflop and Myst called on the button with KT.

Flop: KQT (rainbow)
Player bets 1600
Myst calls.

Turn: 5
Player pushes for 8700
Myst is sure his opponent has AK or AA and he calls only to see his opponent with QQ for a set.

Based upon their history, Myst was sure his opponent would have limped a hand like KQ and that player has shown a propensity to overvalue his big pairs and only raise premium starting hands.

Second Break

Media has been cleared out of the room as we prepare for the second break.

Both Elaineb and Indie have about 27k ... Sparky hovers at about 20.5K ... and Myst is down to about 6,500.

Elaineb Grinding it Up

Elaineb now has 27k after grinding away some small pots.

Aces Anyone?

Marc raises his button and faces two re-raises. He folds and both raisers get it all in only to discover that they each have pocket aces!

Big Swings For Myst

Marc ran a flopped two pair into a flopped set for a good chunk of change leaving him down below th 10k Mark.

Not Much Happening for Indie or Elaineb

Indie has been slowly ground down to 27k ... Elaineb remains at around 24k

Myst on the Move

Marc shoved 8k into a number of limpers and took down a small pot ... Then in the next hand he limped into a 4 way pot and saw a flop of J74. He called a bet on the flop and they saw an offsuit 5 on the flop. The player bet and marc called. Finally with an off suit 9 on the turn marc got it all in and showed pocket tens to take down the pot. Marc is now at 22k.

Sparky Fears No Ace

After raising UTG with KK Sparky leads an AQ2 board and gets called. The turn brings a flush draw and Sparky check/calls feeling that his opponent does not have the Ace. Sparky then checks the offsuit deuce river and his opponent bets out... But Sparky's history with this opponent convinces him to go with his read and call. Sparky's KK is good as his opponent shows a busted flush.

Later Sparky was forced to fold TT face up when faced with very strong resistance from the tightest player at the table. In that hand his opponent actually showed a full house.

Sparky has 21k

indie v. Hoyt

Indie completes from the SB, Hoyt raises to 500 from the BB and Indie calls. The flop comes AQ7 with two diamonds. Both check. The turn is a 6 of diamonds and Indie check/calls 600. The river pairs the 7 and indie check/folds to Hoyt's 750 bet.

Those Troublesome Queens

Marc raises to 800 UTG with QQ and gets repopped by the player on his left to 2600 ... Marc cals and they see a JT7 flop. Marc check calls 3200 and the turn brings a 6. Marc checks and the raiser bets 6000. Marc folds face up.

He is down now to 9500.

Cowboy And Indie

Hoyt Corkins moved in to Indie's left as Indie was showing down a straight to win a big pot, putting him at about 32,000 in chips!

Details of Marc's First All-In

As promised here are the details on the All-in we witnessed earlier from Marc...

UTG raises to 400.
Mar calls on the button.

Flop: AK3
UTG checks.
Marc bets 600.
UTG calls.

(at this point Marc "knows" he has a monster)

Turn: 2 (all rainbow)
UTG checks
Marc bets 2000
UTG raises to 5000
Marc insta-shoves.
To Marc's dismay UTG eventually folds AK face-up.

This is one time Marc really wishes he was better known in the US because his reputation would lead most players to call him in that spot and lose a lot of money!

First Break

We found Indie and he is at 22k ... not much has changed for Elaineb or Sparky ... but Myst lost a big pot before the break, to take him down to about 18k. Here's what happened....

In a battle of the blinds, Marc completes his SB with AJ and the BB (an agrro player) raises to 400, Marc calls and they see a flop of  Ax3x3s. Marc checks and the BB bets 1000, Marc calls. The turn brings a Ks and Marc checks. The BB bets 2800 and Marc calls again. The river is the 5s and Marc checks once more, only to have the BB bet 6000. Marc thinks so long that Jeff Lissandro almost called the clock on him. Finally he called and his opponent showed AsQs fora  runner-runner flush in an otherwise split pot.

Sparky Still Waiting For The Big One

Things have been considerably quiet on Sparky's table and he sits with about 19,600. After starting with 20k

Elaineb Has Some Trouble With The Ladies

After flat calling a raise preflop and seeing a 10 7 5 board. The preflop raiser lead out for 700 and Elaineb raised to 2600 only to have his opponent three-bet 5000 more.At which point Elaineb folded QQ face up. Elaineb has 25,000 despite this tremendous fold.

Myst at 29k

After that last pot, Myst has about 29000 in chips.

Myst Moves All In

We caught up with myst during a big hand where it looks like he bet 2000 on the turn of an Ace high board and got re-raised to 5000 at which point myst moved in and after a very long while, his opponent folded AK face up. More details to come...

Cheap Flops

All the guys seem to be seeing a lot of cheap flops. But so far no big hands have developed.

We Missed One

There actually is 1 pro at Myst's table, Jeffery Lissandro is three seats to his right.

Also, we're still trying to track down Indie who is playing here today.

Marc calls a raise in position and sees a flop of 3s2dJc. The raiser leads for 1500 and Marc calls. The turn brings a 4c and both check. The river brings a 6c and it's checked to Marc who bets 5000. His opponent folds and he takes the pot.

WSOP Event 52 - Break's Over

Boy, that was fun! Sadly, the break is over, the rebuy period is done and Marc is in for $7000. Expect the action to slow down from here on out.

Blinds 100/200.
Marc's stack: 11,500

WSOP Event 52 - The Redemption of Shannon Elizabeth

At the break, Shannon Elizabeth went out of her way to apologize to Marc for her earlier behaviour. She said she wasn't feeling well and that it was a little out of character for her to act like that. Marc told her that he did not take it personally and they're all good now. Suddenly, we like her a lot better. How could we not...

image72

WSOP Event 52 - Whoops

Marc finaly gets a "legitimate" hand and runs his QQ into AA he rebuys and moves in right away. All fold. He shows 7T sooted. He keeps pushing every hand and eventually finds himself in a 3 way all in with K7 v. AJ and AK . He rebuys again and is at 4000. He is all in immediately all fold. The rebuy period is coming to an end and Marc is all in again and again. He gets called by KQ and Marc reveals AJ (he had peeked at the Ace, but the table probably expected that he was moving in blind like before). We are on break and Marc is buying all the chips he is legally allowed to. He has 11.5k and we are on break.

WSOP Event 52 - Shanon and Marc

image71
image70

WSOP Event 52 - Off To The Races

Marc gets it all in preflop with pocket sixes v. AK and makes a 4 card straight to double through.

WSOP Event 52 - Queen Elizabeth

In the very first hand Marc played, he simply pushed all in blind. Shanon Elizabeth immediately said, "I hate players like you!". Marc retorted, "well you're gonna hate me a lot more by the time the rebuy period is over." Shanon continued to give him attitude and Marc said, "well I guess now we all know how you feel, do you think anyone cares how I feel?" To which Shanon gave a loud "no" and the table just rolled their eyes and laughed at "her Majesty, 'Queen Elizabeth'".

WSOP Event 52 - Very Aggresive

In a limped pot the flop comes 8d9h5d. Myst checks from the SB next player bets and Marc pushes and takes down the pot. Later, on a flop of all diamonds, Marc finds himself all in with the 10 high flush v. a set, the board pairs and Marc rebuys.

WSOP Event 52 - Addon!

Marc raises, Shanon re-raises, Marc insta-mucks and uses his add-on to get another 2000 chips, giving him a total of 4000.

WSOP Event 52 - Crazy Action!

The all-ins are fast and furious now as the rest of the table seems to be getting into the rebuy spirit of things. Marc lost a lot of chips (more on that later) and is rebuilding by pushing almost every hand! Shanon has been quiet so far.

WSOP Event 52 - Raising Every Hand

Marc has been raising every hand blind since he sat down... Stealing all the pots until a player finally pushed back all-in and Marc insta-called with 6d9h to find his opponent with J5 off suit. Marc hit a 4 card flush to double through. Later Marc found himself in 3 way all in with pocket 6s against AA and KK ... Marc failed to improve but still has lots of chips. Oh yeah and Shanon Elizabeth at his table!

WSOP Event 52 - Late Arrival

Marc is just getting here now. On the way in he quipped, "being late probably save me five grand". expect some crazyness from him in this rebuy event.

WSOP Event 52 - 1K No Limit Hodem Rebuy

We're about thirty minutes away from the start of the $1000 No Limit Holdem rebuy event. Team Eurolinx's Marc "Myst" Karam is set to play and we expect the action to be fast and furious during the rebuy period. We'll be doing our best to bring you up-to-the-minute coverage of Marc and any other Team Eurolinx players in the field. So, stay tuned and get ready for some thrilling poker excitement, right here on the Eurolinx Blog!

A Disappointing Day At The WSOP

Brutal cards and an even more brutal structure is not the best way to spend your Canada Day. Despite that, Marc has been able to just shrug it off. Overall he played some tremendous poker in this long and disappointing day of the WSOP and he's already looking forward to tommorow's 1K NLHE rebuy event. The Eurolinx blog we'll be right here tomorrow at noon Vegas time to bring you all the action.

WSOP Event 51 - Myst Loses Some Big Ones

On a flop of 664 (two clubs) Marc calls a bet along with another player. The turn brings an offsuit 3. Marc bet 300 and was called. The river brought a 4th club and Marc check / called to take 75% of the side pot with 2345 versus the all-ins nut flush and the other player's straight.

In another hand...

Marc 3 bets preflop with

Marc raises with AT62 (two spades, ace high). 2 callers.

Flop; T62

Marc bets 200 and gets raised. Marc 3 bets. Other player calls and is all in.

Turn: 9s

Marc pushes and gets called by 3455.

River: 3 and Marc busts from the tournament to another brutal river!

WSOP Event 51 - Stubborn Call

Marc three-bets it preflop with AA34 and gets one caller. The flop comes KK3. Marc bets and is called. The turn is a 7 and Marc check/calls. The river brings a ten and Marc checks then makes a stubborn call to find his opponent with KJ84.

This brings him back around the 3k mark.

WSOP Event 51 - Rebuilding

Marc is now at 5000 with no showdowns. He's really hit his stride in the holdem portion after dinner.

WSOP Event 51 - Myst Takes A Pot

Myst calls a raise from the SB and the flop comes Q99 myst check calls and the turn brings a third nine. Myst check calls again. The river brings a brick and both players check. Marc shows A7 and is good with Ace High.

WSOP Event 51 - Marc Doubles After Dinner

Marc now has 3K... After taking some pots with no showdown stakes 150/300.

2007 WSOP Event 51 - Dinner Break

Sorry for the lack of updates, there hasn't been much to report. Marc has been very slowly bleeding chips and with this insane structure he went from 3000 to 2500 and suddenly found himself shortstacked. Eventually he got into two big hands right before dinner. In the first his opponent hit a gutshot on 7th street in a pretty big pot of Stud 8 or better. Finally, he managed to double through by scooping a pot right before dinner. Details are sketchy. More to come after dinner (in about 1.5 hours).

2007 WSOP Event 51 - Chopping Away

In usual fashion, Marc is just chopping away his opponents building his stack up to 3000 (from 2000 starting chips). These limit events tend to be slow at the beginning, but we'll keep you abreast of any action that unfolds.

2007 WSOP Event 51 - 1K SHOE Event

Never one to let a few bad beats dull his enthusiasm, Marc Karam has indeed registered for the 1K SHOE event which features Stud, Holdem, Omaha 8-or-better and Stud 8-or-better. He just started playing so he has about the starting stack and he is at a very weak table. With the very small buyin and the coincidence of this event and the Omaha championship there aren't too many pros in the field. This gives Marc a great chance to go deep. Go Myst Go!!

2007 WSOP Event 50 - Not So Happy Canada Day

So after almost six hours of play against the very best players in the world - including, Ram Vaswani, Barny Boatman, Jen Harman, Men "The Master", Mel Judah and others - Myst has shown us once again that he can hold his own. Unfortunately, the cards just did not co-operate as time after time the River came along and thwarted Marc's excellent play.

Despite a string of bad beats he consistently managed to grind his way back up. He was always in contention from the very first hand to the last and he played a fearless and technically sound game. In the end though, the bad beats took their toll and a final dirty river against Soulier saw Myst bust out on Day 1 of this event.

Today is Canada Day and being far from home and out of the tournament is the last thing Marc wanted. However, to his credit he keeps his chin up and looks to the future, commenting "I might go play the S.H.O.E event". We'll be sure to follow him in that event if he decides to play.

In the meantime, Marc would like to wish a Happy Canada Day to all his friends and family around the world. He thanks you for your enduring support throughout his exploits in the crazy world of professional poker.

2007 WSOP Event 50 - Third Break

As always, after a long period of grinding, there's action! These two big hands took place just before the break.

The player who rivered quad 10s on Marc earlier makes a raise to 1200.
Marc re-raises to 3800 (pot) with AA34 double suited (hearts and clubs).
Player calls.

Flop: QJ3 (two clubs)

Player bets pot (7600)
Marc pushes for ~11K
Player calls and shows TT54 (two clubs).

A little later ...

Others folded.

River K.

Marc mucked his hand.

This leaves him with 25K. Still in very good shape.

2007 WSOP Event 50 - Myst Pictures

Contrary to our initial information, Marc "Myst" Karam seems to be the only Team Eruolinx player in this event. Here are some pics.

59722-68

59722-66

2007 WSOP Event 50 - Grinding Away

Myst is keeping himself around the 15K mark. He is seeing a lot of cheap flops and picking up pots where he can.

2007 WSOP Event 50 - Second Break

We're on the second break and Myst is back up to 15K ... details to come...

2007 WSOP Event 50 - Myst Pops His Cherry (the 10K Addon chip)

Myst grinded his way back up to 18K (including addon chip) and then in a big hand Myst called a raise with 89KQ and saw a flop of JT3 giving him a full wrap. He bet pot (2000) and got a caller. The turn came a 9 giving him the nut straight and Marc bet pot again. The player called and the river  paired the ten. Marc had only 1600 left at this point (minus his addon) and was force to call his oppoenent's final bet. The villain showed TTxx for rivered quads and Myst "added-on" 10K. He now has abou 11K with the blinds at 150/300.

2007 WSOP Event 50 - New Table Mates

Myst's new table features David Sklansky in the 1 seat, Fabrice Soulier in the 6 seat and Mel Judah in the 10 seat with Myst in the 8 seat.

2007 WSOP Event 50 -Hand Updates

The Rivered flush hand went like this:

4 limpers
Flop: A57 (one club)

Checks to Marc who bets pot (800)
SB calls.
Rest fold.

Turn: 8c

SB checks.
Marc bets pot again (2400)
SB calls.

River: Qc

SB checks. (pot ~7200)
Marc bets 3K
SB calls.

Marc shows 9846 (one club)
SB shows 2c 3c 4x 6c (giving him the sucker straight on the turn and then the flush on the river)

Given Marc's read on the player, he felt his bet would be called by even a set on the board. Marc has been at the same table with this guy for a while and he has seen some .... "interesting" plays. In fact this is the same player who knocked out Jeff Madsen with a naked flush draw on 678 (two clubs) flop vs. Madsen's T976. The players were all-in on the flop for ~10K each.

2007 WSOP Event 50 - On Break

We were mistaken the break actually came at the end of the second level. So, player's are now on break. On his way out of the tournament area, Marc was stopped by Marcel Luske who broke out of his conversation with a reporter specifically to greet him.

Marc is down to 14,600 including his add-on chip. The rivered flush was a brutal beat. We'll have the exact details shortly.

2007 WSOP Event 50 - Two Sizeable Pots

Myst played two sizeable pots back to back. In the first he took some chips from our friend in Seat 3 after the board came J7689 rainbow and Myst showed down J745 for a flopped two pair and a rivered straight. Shortly after that, Myst turned a straight only to have his opponent river a flush ... the details on that hand are sketchy, we'll be sure to bring you more info at the break (in about an hour).

2007 WSOP Event 50 - Ram's Gone and Marc Wins A Big One

Ram Vaswani has been eliminated and Marc has taken his first big pot:

Seat 3 Raised to 500.
Myst calls on the button.
SB calls.

Flop: Qs 4d 9s

Checks to Myst who bets 2000.
SB folds.
Seat 3 calls.

Turn: Ks

Seat 3 pushes.
Marc insta-calls with the nut flush (As 4s X X)!

We missed seat 3's hand, but the pot was sizeable, we'll look for a chip count soon. Interestingly enough, because seat 3 still had his addon chip, he was able to add-on 10,000 so he was not eliminated.

2007 WSOP Event 50 - New Neighbour

Marc's new table has him two seats to the right of Ram Vaswani. He's been playing quite a few small pots at both tables, raising preflop and then letting it go. The blinds are very small so I doubt it has affected his stack much. Marc seems to be just looking for a spot to accumulate chips.

Marc and Ram

2007 WSOP Event 50 - Three's Company

Play has been underway for about an hour. Marc registered late and got to his table about 15 minutes late, only to find Barny Boatman to his immediate left and Men "The Master" Nguyen to his left.

WSOP 2007 Event 51 - Three's Company

He has now moved to table 35 and we're on the way to get the scoop on what that table is like.

2007 WSOP Event 50 - The Strange Addon Chip

Some outlets reported that the 10K PLO event today was in fact a rebuy/addon tournament. This is incorrect, however; players receive a 10,000 add-on chip that they can use at any time. This chip is included in their regular buyin and can be used to add 10,000 in chips to their stack. The chip itself does not play. At this point we can only guess that this measure was put in place to limit the physical number of chips at the table.

2007 WSOP Event 50 - 10K Pot Limit Omaha - About To Start

In just over an hour - at noon, Vegas time - the cards will be in the air for Event 50 of the 2007 World Series Of Poker. This $10,000USD Pot Limit Omaha Championship event is sure to draw out some of poker's biggest and brightest stars. Amongst them will be members of Team Eurolinx including, Marc "Myst" Karam. Some table changes

Johnny Loddens and Sevald Hægelands table was broken, and they were both moved to tough tables. Sevald came to the table of death, who contains Peter Roche, Jeff Lisandro, Fuat Can, Pascal Perault, Ian Woodley and a couple of good swedes more. Johnny came to a table with  JP Kelly, Allan "Mariachi" Dyrstad, Ben Grundy and a couple of other canons.

Ulle loses with AK against 7-7

Ulle raise to 4.000 with AK. A small stack to his left reraise all in, and Ulle calls. The small stack hits a set on the turn and collect 16.000 chips. Ulle has now 62.000 chips.

Just when the table stated playing, the player to Loddens left played on Granisimos left yesterday. Henning gave Johnny a tip that this player always reraise when there is a raise in late position. He plays almost every hand, and is very loose.

Lodden raise with AJ in cut off, and the mentioned player reraise 7.000 more from the button. Lodden calls. Flop comes 5.J-K with two hearts. Lodden check, and the other guy bets 7.000. Lodden immediatly raise to 19.000 total. And other guy folds. Nice pot for Lodden. He has now 70.000 chips.

Two norwegians doubles up

Andreas Hagen and Allan Dyrstad alias "Mariachi" doubles up just a few minutes into day 2. Hagen hits a K with his KQ against AQ, and has now 18.000 chips. Mariachi hits a flush with A4s against AK.

Ulle is now placed at table 5 seat 1. He has one of the biggest stacks in the tournament with his 70.000. The two chip leaders Icari Salahmies from Finland and Dan Petersen fra Denmark (both over 100.000 chips) has seat 7 and 8.

LEGENDS OF POKER

Some of the team members went to The Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles to play a $200 rebuy.
This is one of the many side events to the WPT Legends of Poker - arranged at The Bike later this month.

Axabaxa, Sparky, Indie, LK and tilion from Team Eurolinx, Thor Hansen from Norway and 577 other players.
Total pricepool over $300,000. Top 46 will finish in the money.

After 90 minutes of play, all Eurolinx-players are still in. Only LK bought the double add on.
A total of 931 rebuys and add on's, and over 1,5 million chips in play.

Not long after the break, LK is knocked out of the tournament.
After the next break Axabaxa and Sparky had to leave the tables as well. Indie and tilion still had chips left.

It started to tighten in, and it got down to under 100 players left. Indie was short on chips, and got knocked out short before the money. Thor Hansen had to follow him short after, and only tilion was left of the norwegians.

tilion finished in 36th place, when his AQ got beat by A10.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ELAINEB AND SPARKY

Elaineb with a 366th place, and Sparky with 845th place, both finishing in the money in the 2oo6 World Series of Poker Main Event!

You make Team Eurolinx look good :)

CONGRATULATIONS TO ELAINEB AND SPARKY
Elaineb (left) and Sparky with a great performance in the Main Event

ELAINEB KNOCKED OUT

After loosing the big pot with 66 vs JJ, Elaineb was blinded down to 49.000, and had to push it into the pot with AQ. He was looking at a sweet pot, after one limper and one raiser the pot contained almost 35.000 before he pushed all in.
But when the raiser had the pocket rockets - AA, it was all over. Jd-3s-5d-5s-8h on the board.

GG Elaineb! Top 400 in a field of almost 9000 of the worlds best players!

ELAINEB CUT IN HALF

After one hour of play, Elaineb still had around 120.000 in chips, after being blinded down to 90k.
But then he opens the pot with a pair of sixes, and a shortstack moves all in. Elaineb is looking at good odds, and has to call 35.000 to win a pot worth 110.000, so he calls and hopes the shortstack is on two highcards. But the highcards match, and the shortstack's pair of jacks hold up.

Elaineb is down to 65.000 now.

END OF DAY 3

Elaineb ended the day on 128.000 in chips, and will continue play tomorrow.

20 MINUTES LEFT OF DAY 3

Elaineb continues to climb towards the average. He now has 150.000 chips, only 25.000 short of the average chipstack.

9 norwegians left in the field of 500 players.

BREAK

The players have been on a new break, after playing two hours since dinner.
Bernt Grytdahl is now 100k up since the beginning of day 3. 120.000 for Elaineb now.

Since he moved to the new table he's only showed one hand. A8, when he hit an ace on turn and checked out the pot in position. If that doesn't help to build a thight image nothing does :)

The other norwegians are generally down since dinner.
Around 600 players left. Play was supposed to stop when they reached the 600-mark, but the directors have decided to play another three hours today.
Blinds are now 1500/3000 with a 400 ante.

NEW TABLE FOR ELAINEB

Still 87k, nothing big to report.

BACK AFTER DINNER BREAK

Elaineb had 87.000 to the break.
Lucky7 is still in, and built his stack from 27.000 to 205.000 during the five hours of play today. He kracked aces with kings shortly before the break.

SPARKY FINISHED IN 845th PLACE

Just got the news that Kjetil Flatnes finished in 845th place.

Concidering that almost 9000 players entered the tournament this year, among them all the greatest players in the world, this is a great performance by Sparky!

SPARKY IS OUT

Sparky made it to the money, but got knocked out short after when his A9 got a call from JJ, and no ace on the board. GG Sparky!

Elaineb is still in, with over 70k in chips!
He has already made it to the second payout-level.

730 players left, they will play down to 600 today.

MORE ROUND BY ROUND

Three players from the money, all the tables has started a new round by round play.

Both Team Eurolinx players are still in.

One guy at a table cheered out as he made it through the first round by round with only 100 left in chips. He thought he would get in the money, but now has to play another round. He will be all in for 1/3 of the ante in the first hand.

ROUND BY ROUND

The tournament is now played round by round. Most tables have completed their rounds, but I don't know how many players got knocked out.

Sparky is around 30.000, looking forward to making the money so he can push a bit more.
Elaineb was at 75.000, but a round pf play and a pot he lost in battle of the blinds brought him down to 63.000

I'm not allowed inside the area until the round by round process is finished, but I'll come back with more updates after that.

SECOND BREAK

Going to the second break, Elaineb had 63.000 and Sparky 38.000

Nothing big at any of the tables.
The players will soon be down to the 872 players getting paid.
