An Amazing Acomplishment

After final tabling this event last year. Team Eurolinx', Marc Karam manages to achieve yet another phenomenal feat, by going very deep again this year. His bust out in 25th place earns him 49,000$ and even more respect and admiration from poker fans around the globe.

His accomplishments as a professional poker player place him amongst some of the greatest in the game.

There is no doubt in our minds that before his career is over, Marc will find himself in the poker hall of fame!

Until then, you can find Marc "Myst" Karam playing on Eurolinx poker as "_myst_".

Massive Coin Flip

Marc gets it all in in a Massive pot for over a million chips.

After the CO bet 20k the button called and the big stack who had been playing hyper aggressive made it 110k. Marc shoves for 410k. Folds to the big stack who calls with AK. Matc tables JJ and when a K hits the flop it's all over.

Looks Like These New Guys Can Play

Marc is being re-raised a lot and having to fold. He is down to 500k. He's still in great shape though and will probably change gears to adjust to this new table.

Marc's New Table

The only recognizable face at Marc's new table is Scott Clements

Marc's Table Breaks

27 players remain. Marc's table breaks and he has 710k in chips.

On Break

It's the last break of the day. Marc is at 750K after calling the chip leader down with Q high on an AA99x board. The pot was small.

The last level of the day will begin shortly and there are 32 players remaining. Blinds will be 4000/8000/1000.

The Barry Situation

As we head into the break, Barry has eliminated 2 players at Marc's table and grown his stack considerably.

One More Level

We're playing out the remaining 10 minutes of this level and then 1 more level for the day. So Marc only has to navigate this difficult table draw for another 100 minutes or so.

Tomorrow we will play down to 18 players.

New Table Could Be Trouble

Barry Greenstein is to his right and the chip leader is to Barry's right. Marc actually has 771k.

Chip Count At Dinner

Marc has 761K as we go to dinner.

Chip Count At Dinner

Marc has 761K as we go to dinner.

Diamonds Before Dinner

EP player raises to 16K, Marc repops it to 55k. The player pushes, but he doesn't have enough to make Marc fold. So Marc calls and flips over Ad8d, his opponent holds Kings and the flop brings 2 diamonds, the turn is a third diamond and for the second day in a row Marc feasts on chips before dinner. Somehow, we don't think it will ruin his appetite though.

Taking On The Chip Leader

Table chip Leader raises from UTG and Marc calls from the BB. The flop is QT3 rainbow and both check. Marc leads the 6 on the turn for 40k and his opponent makes it 140 to go. Marc moves all in. His opponent finaly folds. Marc has about 660k now.

Small Hit

Marc lost a decent sized pot and is down to about 500k. We weren't able to see all the action, but the river was checked and Marc's oponent won with AT for top pair.

Fire Up The Myst Machine

Marc to 18k raised from UTG+1 and Bellande re-raised to about 46k. Marc asks what Belland has left (another 50k or 60k) and eventually Marc moves in. Bellande leaps up and launches into a huge tirade before finally calling with QQ. Marc turns over AA, they hold and Bellande is voted off the island.

This cranks up the "Myst Machine", Aggressive raises for the next 2 hands net Marc both proceeding pots.

Marc has 570k

Go Myst Go!

Jawing It Up

Scott Clements is in the SB and says, "I'm gonna call whithout looking". Marc responds, "I'm gonna look first then raise" and he pops it up to 24k. Scott folds. A few hands later Marc re-raises Belande and Bellande shoves for over 60k ... After some consideration, Marc folds. Bellande does his patented thumbs and "nice fold" speech.

We're in the Money!

Marc has about 370k and there are 44 players left. He has made the money and is guaranteed at least $19,500.

The Bubble Approaches

There are 47 players left. 45 spots pay. The level ends in 5 minutes. Marc just raised in the BB and took down a small pot. He showed tens. Play is now hand for hand.

7 Players To The Money

The first money position is 7 players away and Marc actually has over 360k (we miscounted earlier).

Marc v. Chip Leader

On a board of K923 rainbow Marc pushed his last 170k over top of the chip leaders bet and the chip leader folded. Marc now has just under 320k

Belande Makes A Speech

On a board of J5949 Marc bets pot on the river, 65k. Belande launches into a big speech about how Marc must be bluffing and then finally folds.

First Break Of The Day

Marc at 200k. The amount of action and chips at his table is forcing Marc to lay low.

Joe Cassidy Busts

Joe Cassidy busted in a massive pot at Marc's table. The new chip leader -the one who eliminated Joe- is two to Marc's left with about 1M in the 5 seat. He is a relative unknown.

Down A Bit, Up A Bit More

In a battle of the blinds. Marc calls a raise of 10k from the BB and sees an Ace High flop HU with the SB. The SB bets and Marc folds.

The next hand, Marc re-raises a MP player from the SB to 30K preflop. The MP asks how much Marc has and when Marc answers "I started with 170k" the MP player calls. The flop is 567 rainbow and Marc moves all-in almost immediately. The player folds.

Marc is at 220k now.

Sea Of Chips

Joe Cassidy just got seated in the 1 spot at Marc's table. He has over 400k in chips. Making Marc's table the richest table in the room!

The Sleeping Dragon Returns

Marc is staying out of the early action. He knows that with all the big stacks at his table, he won't be able to push people around, so he has reverted to "sleeping dragon" mode. When he wakes up with a hand, it's gonna mean trouble for someone.

As usual Bellande is chatting it up and getting involved in the early action. He has a history of "blowing up" and dumping a lot of chips. Let's hope they land in Marc's stack today.

Table 1 Again

Marc finds himself at table 1 for the second day in a row, however in sharp contrast to yesterday, there are quite a few large stacks at his table. Here's how it looks:

Arunullah Jamais 5 306,800
Weikai Chang 8 217,300
Scott Freeman 7 215,000
Jean-Robert Bellande 6 214,300
Scott Clements 2 205,900
Marc Karam 3 181,400
Jacob Walsh 1 80,400
Timothy Adams 9 72,600
Michelle Giampaolo 4 31,400

WPT - NAPC Day 3

Marc finished day 2 just shy of the top 10 in 11th place overall with over 181,000 chips. This puts him in an excellent spot for today, with blinds at 1500/3000/400 he has more than enough chips to go the distance. The action starts at noon EST and we'll be right here covering every minute of the 5 levels they intend to play today. With only 79 players remaining, it's more than likely that anyone who survives the day will be in the money - since they're paying the top 45 spots this year. Look for Marc to be among the survivors and probably among the thrivers; he doesn't care about the money, he wants that first place victory and if he can keep doing what he's been doing over the last two days, he may very well get it. So, keep your browsers locked to this location and warm up your "refresh" finger for Day 3 of the North American Poker Championships as brought to you by the Eurolinx Blog.

GO MYST GO!

3rd to Last Hand

Marc takes one down with Q5 on a 557T7 board with two hands to go.

5 More Hands

For some unknown reason the clock was paused with 13 minutes to go and they've announced that only 5 more hands would be dealt today. Marc has already played 1. He folded pre-flop.

Battle of the Blinds

Marc raises from the Sb and is called by the BB. They check down to the river on an Ace high rainbow board and Marc finally bets 10k on the end his opponent calls and Marc mucks.

An orbit later Marc calls a raise from the SB and leads a flop of 995 with two hearts to take it down.

He's basically maintaining his stack. With 17 minutes to go he is still above average with over 170k.

Grinding Down

Despite efforts to maintain his stack. Marc has been slowly grinded down to 180k.

Slow Last Level

Not much to report with less than an hour to go. Marc has taken 1 or 2 small pots uncontested and is maintaining his current stack.

Clocked

Marc called a pre-flop raise and saw a flop of 5dJd2h head's up. His opponent bet and Marc called. The turn brought thd 2d and his opponent checked. Marc fired about 15k and his opponent called. The river brought a black four and his opponent checked again. This time Marc bet 40k rather quickly. His opponent tanked it after a considerable amount of time, Marc called "clock" on him. His opponent then quickly called and exposed his KJ. Marc mucked. After the hand Marc's opponent said he would never have made the call if Marc hadn't called Clock on him. Meanwhile some of the other player's berated him for calling with KJ in that spot. Marc is probably back down to about 200k.

A Close Second?

We just got word that there is a player out there with 330k ... Marc's 280+ is probably good for second place right now. We're 8 minutes from break and then we'll play the last level of the day.

Tense Hand

Marc raises to 4500 and is called by the player to his left. They see a JsAs2s flop head's up. Both check. The turn is a Qs. Marc checks and his opponent bets 7k. Marc calls. The river pairs the Q and Marc checks again. His opponent bets 15k and Marc goes into the tank for an eternity before min-raising to 30k. His opponent leaps out of his chair. Shakes his head. Sits back down. And finally calls. Marc shows AdKs for the nut flush and his opponent mucks. Marc now has 280k and is probably chip leader.

Grinding Up The Leaderboard

Marc is at about 230k now which places him easily in the top 3.

He's Just a Chip Machine

Marc is a simple machine, really, here's how he works. Get lots of chips, then when a player raises, Marc re-raises, and the player folds. Just like that, presto-majesto his stack continues to grow. Go Myst Go!

Bullets Before Dinner

Marc quickly calls an all in preflop and shows AA to eliminate his opponent who has AQ. The dinner is in 7 minutes, looks like Marc is having chips for an appetizer.

He's at 220k now.

He's Back

Marc calls a standard raise preflop and then 6000 on a 39K rainbow flop. His opponent checks the Ace on the turn and Marc bets 8000. His opponent calls and then leads a rag river for 16,000, Marc sets his all in for 40k more. His opponent exposes a King and folds. Marc is back at 180k.

Bullets and Hooks

After eliminating a player who made an all in play against Marc's Aces preflop.Marc faced a standard raise from a MP player and reraised enough to put the guy all in (almost 40,000). His opponent tanked it and finally called with JJ. Marc turned over Big Slick and we were off to the races. Unfortunately the Jacks held up.

Marc has about 135,000 now.

Grinding To A Hault

With a few players at his table having over 100k, the dynamics have changed and Marc is playing a lot more conservatively, in fact the pace of the entire table seems to have slowed right down. We're an hour away from dinner time and not much is happening.

Oh Boy!

During the last level. Marc gets check-called all the way down by a weak Ace in a 60k limped pot where he bet 2500 on an AKT, 8000 when a 7 appeared on the turn and 20,000 when the river put out another K.

Unfortunately, when his opponent chose to look him up and show A3, Marc mucked.

He has 150k, average is 65k.

The New Guy's Stack

The new player at Marc's table has about 150k ... He just played a hand pretty aggressively against the tightest player on the table. Since his arrival Marc has been a lot more conservative, surely waiting to get a read before getting involved. Nevrtheless, Marc is still table captain with over 180k.

New Face

A new player has arrived to take the place of the guy Marc busted earlier. The good news is he is an unknown and he has a healthy looking stack, perhaps Marc can ensure that this new player meets the same fate as his predecessor.

175K and Climbing

Marc eliminated a player by calling his 9k all in with AJ and winning the race against his opponent's pocket nines. He continues to take down every pot he can and is at about 175k in chips now.

Suicide Play

Marc faces an all in on a random board and stacks up the 27,000 chips he believes are required to make the call. While Marc is tanking it the dealer clarifies that the all in is for "20.7". Marc is deep in though and does not hear. Eventually Marc asks his opponent if he would show either way. His opponent agrees and Marc thinks a while longer before folding. His opponent show JQ for a Q high bluff. Marc then reveals his hand: AJ for Ace high and says, "I was *this* close to calling!". When someone points out that Marc had stacked too many chips while deliberating, Marc becomes visibly upset, saying he would have called 20,700 but not 27,000. Let's hope players continue trying to dump off their stacks to him. Meanwhile, the pot only cost Marc about 5000 in chips.

Day 2 - Break 1

Marc at 155K ... He's won 12 of the last 14 pots with no showdown!

Rebuilding Fast

Marc is taking down lots of small pots by either re-raising preflop or betting out on the flop. His stack is growing again.

20k Coin Flip

The button shoves for just over 20k and Marc eventually calls with pocket 8s. The button has AQ and the flop brings a Q right away. Marc fails to improve and is back down to about 120k. Considering the average stack is 49k ... Marc is still in excellent shape.

Big Riiver Bet

Marc calls on the button and sees a flop of JQ6 rainbow. It's checked to him and he bets 3600 .. 2 fold and 1 calls. The turn brings an 8 and both check. The river is a 5 and his opponent leads for 2500. Marc raises to 22,500 and his opponent tanks it before mucking. That pot puts him over the 140k mark.

Marc Gets Back And Then Some

Marc made a straight in.a massive 50k pot and has reclaimed all the chips he lost earlier and more. He is now at over 135k and raising like a demon every hand, taking pots down uncontested.

Relentless Attack

As predicted, Marc is raising a lot and taking pots down uncontested. It'll be interesting to see which, if any, of the players at his table take a stand against him.

There are 228/504 players left and a long day of poker ahead with less than 15 minutes to go in level 7.

Table Number 1

Action is about to get underway and Marc is here and about to take his seat at Table 1, a pretty good place to be since there will be no big pros there as far as we can tell. Here's the breakdown:

Marc Karam 6 126,600
Richard Mallow 2 85,000
Jesse Berger 1 52,500
Christopher Jetten 3 47,500
Douglas Johnson 5 44,700
Steven Silverman 7 37,200
Patrick Pezzin 4 26,000
Xuan Liu 8 15,700
Curtis Battle 9 10,100

WPT NAPC - Day 2 About to Begin

After a day of rest, we're back for Day 2 of the NAPC here in Niagara Falls, Canada where our star player, Marc "Myst" Karam is ready to take on another daunting field as the remaining players from all 3 Day Ones battle for chips in the Grand Hall of the beautiful Fallsview Resort and Casino.

The good news is that Marc will start the day as one of the chip leaders with 126,600 chips; over three times the average stack.

Look for those chips to be moving fast and hard into pot after pot, putting relentless pressure on his opponents - especially if he gets a good table draw.

Play will begin around noon, so keep your browsers locked to this address for all the latest and greatest from Eurolinx about our Canadian Sensation, Marc "Myst" Karam!

Tournament Chip Leader

Marc mowed them down in this last level and built his stack to 126.6K. He reraised the last 3 hands in a row preflop and was just a huge force at his table. His stack, more than likely, makes him chip leader of not only Day 1b ... But also of the entire tournament so far.

We'll be back on Monday at noon for Day 2.

Go Myst Go!

He's Huge!

Marc is now at 116k! More to come...

The Final Hour

We are into the last hour of play for the day. Player's are tired and Marc is continuing to push the action. If all goes well, Marc will begin Day 2 on Monday in the top 10 in chips.

Final Break

Marc's run over his table and accumulated even more chips. With one more hour of play to go, he has 97k.

Chip Leader

It looks like Marc has or is close to having the chip lead. He is using those chips to runover the table and is raising almost every hand!

Go Myst Go!

New Table... No Pros

Marc is at a new table, there doesn't seem to be anyone else of note at this new table.

With his 90k Marc is most likely in the top 10 for today.

Double Up Hand

Here's what happened.

There was a raise to 1400 and Marc called on the Button with 64 of clubs. The BB re-raised to 2400 and the original raiser and Marc both called. The flop came A84 with two clubs and the original raiser bet 12000, Marc shoved for around 40k and his opponent called, tablin AK. The turn brought a Kc, giving Marc the flush!

Chip Count

That last pot put Marc at 90k... He is an absolutely GREAT shape now. Go Myst Go!

Boooooom!

Marc doubles up! Looks like he pushed a strong fraw on the flop and got called by a set. Marc hit his draw on the turn and his opponent failed to improve. Chip count and details coming soon...

Loudmouth Awakens The Dragon

Our rambunctious friend raised preflop and Marc called holding pocket sixes. The flop came ragged 694 with 2 hearts. Marc check-called 3300. The turn brough the 7h and Marc had planned to lead out, but did not wanna risk having him fold fearing the flush. When the river bricked out, Marc bet 9000 and his opponent called.

We are on break and Marc has 41k.

Back To Average

Through some steady grinding, Myst has built his stack back up to 28k; which is about the average.

Sleeping Dragon

As predicted, with fewer chips, Marc is not able to be as adventurous as before. The result is a slow grind. He will certainly pick his spots carefully and look to rebuild. We like to call this, his "sleeping dragon" routine.

When he wakes up with a hand ... Someone will get burned!

The Loudmouth Next Door

The most "rambunctious" player of the tournment. A relatively unknown American who earlier got into a loud altercation with Freddy Deeb has just been seated to Marc's left.

On Break

Still at 20k. Look for a slow-paced grind in the next level when the blinds will be 150 & 300 with a 50 ante.

Those Pesky Ladies

Marc raises preflop with QQ and sees a flop 532, he gets check-minraised for 4000 and calls. The turn brings a 7 and his opponent bets 5000, Marc calls again. The river pairs the 5 and his opponent sets Marc all in. Marc tanks it before finally folding, QQ face-up. His oponent shows 22 for a boat. That was the hand that brought Marc down to 20k. Break in 5 minutes. Expect more then.

Below Average... Says Who?

For the first time today, Marc has dipped below the average stack with only 20k... Details on the hand to follow shortly. Luckily, he's an above average player, so this is only a minor setback.

Quiet For Now

It's been a quiet level so far. 30 minutes to go till break.

Dinner Re-cap

Lots to catch up on. In the last level, there were a few key hands.

Marc completes from the SB with K8 of clubs, the flop brings KQ9 and Marc checks and calls to see a Q on the turn 3 way. All checks and the River brings a K double-pairing the board. Marc leads for 3k and both players call and muck. This put Marc at 42k.

Later Marc flopped top two and lost a sizable amount when he ran into a flopped flush. Knocking him back down to 28k.

Then just before dinner. Our friend raised to 700 and another player re-raised to 2k. Marc flat called as did our Friend. The flop brought 3 rag diamonds and it's checked to the re-raiser who bets 5000, Marc pushes for 22k and both eventually fold.

He is now at 35k and play will resume at 6:08.

It Seems "What Goes Up...

... Must come down"

Marc is at 28k now. Thanks to some new rules on reporting. Details are sketchy. We'll do our best to update as we know more. Dinner is in 20 minutes ... So expect a full report at the dinner break.

Back To 43k

Marc is back up to 42k in chips. We'll post the details as they come.

The Roller Coaster Begins

Never one to rest on his big stack, Marc continued to gamble and played a combination gutshot and flush draw very hard, taking him down to 22k. Luckily our friend from before raised it up when Marc was holding AK. Marc re-raised and our friend called leaving himself only about 4500 behind. The flop came AAx and Marc set our friend all in. Our friend called and was eliminated holding QQ v. Marc's trips.

Marc is back at 35k

Break #2

We're into the second break now and as predicted Marc and our friend tangled again in the last level.

Marc raised with 69 of hearts and the flop brought a miracle 78T with one heart. Marc bet and was called. Othe turn brough a third heart and Marc bet again and again he was called. The river was an offsuit J and Marc bet one more time, this time for 6000 chips. His opponent called and showed down the 9T for a split pot.

Down a Bit

As usual, Marc is using his stack to gamble a bit. Unfortunately nothing is really hitting at the moment. He is down to about 35k. Still well above the average (20,736). The most significant hand came against our friend. Marc raised with deuces and got heads up. He continuation bet a K87 flop, checked a 9 on the turn and then made a big bet when the T hit and he was checked to. Our friend called with the A7 to take it down.

This guy has rebuilt his stack up over 20k and it's only a matter of time before he and Marc tangle again.

42k and Climbing

The same player who doubled Marc up earlier managed to make a come back and get engaged in the following hand with Marc.

Marc raises to 300 from the button and our friend calls. The flop comes 885 and it's checked to Marc who bets 500 and gets called. The turn is a 3 and Marc bets another 500 and gets called. The river is a deuce and again it goes, check-500-call. Marc shows As5s and his opponent mucks.

Up Over 40k

There is a raise to 400 and Marc calls along with three other players. The flop comes 9T2 (with two hearts) Marc lead for 1200 and got 1 caller. The turn brought another heart and Marc bet 2000 to take it down.

Up Over 40k

There is a raise to 400 and Marc calls along with three other players. The flop comes 9T2 (with two hearts) Marc lead for 1200 and got 1 caller. The turn brought another heart and Marc bet 2000 to take it down.

Level 1 is Done

Players are on break for 15 minutes as the first level has completed. Marc is at 37k and feeling good.

No Pictures Please

Due to new regulations imposed by the local Government, live pictures of the event are, for the most part, forbidden. There is only one authorised photographer and he has only 2 hours a day to do his work. So, we probably won't be able to show you shots of Marc's larger than normal stack or his focused gaze as he scrutinizes his opponents, but rest-assured both are there in full force.

Off To A Good Start

After a raise of 150 and 3 callers, Marc calls as well holding the A8 of diamonds. The flop is picture perfect: KdQdTd ... The raiser bet and Marc called as well as another player. The turn was an offsuit 9 and the other player bet and Marc raised to 7500 the player called and they saw a brick hit the river. Marc pushed and his opponent called holding a J for the straight. Marc now has about 38k.

Good Table Draw

There appear to be no really big names at Marc's table. That's good news as he should be able to take control of the game and accumulate chips.

Blinds are 25/50, players started with 20k in chips and the levels are a full 90 minutes long.

Play is Underway

Marc was late arriving as usual ... He took his seat about just before 12:30 and we're investigating what, if any, pros are at his table. Stay tuned.
